Circuit Missions Events
Circuit Charity Market Stall for Missions

The Circuit Charity Market Stall for Missions in Leeds Market was held on 12 July. We made the total sum of £463.50, which has been divided equally between World and Home Missions; this was a wonderful Circuit event.

There is a lot of hard work which goes into this event, which includes the advertising of the date to members in church, the collecting of items for sale, the delivering of them to Jean for pricing and numerous other things and not forgetting the manning of our Stall in Leeds Market. Everyone involved deserves our thanks as without them we could not raise this sort of money.

Missions Sunday - 11 March 2007

Over a hundred people travelled round the Circuit enjoying a “Safari Meal” and visiting the various churches. Starters were served at Colton, Gipton and Scholes; main courses at Christ Church, Crossgates and Garforth; and sweets at Barwick, Newbourne and Seacroft.

The Safari Lunch was followed by a Circuit service at Crossgates, led by Revd. Robert Creamer, marking the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade in this country. We were given a moving insight into the lives of the people who became slaves. Brian Poulter, Peter Grubb and Margaret Webb showed us pictures of places associated with the slave trade, that they had visited in Ghana, Nigeria and The Gambia.  John Connor, JP, a Local Preacher from the Headingley Circuit, who came to this country from the Caribbean, spoke about the legacy of slavery.

The meal and the Circuit Service collection raised over £620 for Home and World Missions, to help people in this country and overseas.
