Crossgates Methodist Church

Crossgates Methodist Church is in the heart of the local community; this central location allows us to open our doors to local people not just on Sundays, but every day of the week. Coffee mornings, Wednesday at Eight, Scouting and Guiding meetings are just some of the ways in which the church facility is used and enjoyed. There is something for everyone, young or old. The current church was opened in 1882 and with over 100 people worshipping here each week, it’s a friendly place that welcomes all ages to worship. Several Junior Church departments and a crèche run each week in order to enable children of all ages to access the word of God in fun and creative ways.

 Regular Activities

 Junior Church 

Children attend Junior Church in four age groups on Sundays at 10.30 am.

Brownies

5th Crossgates Methodist Brownies (age 7 – 10 years) meet on Mondays, 6.00-7.30.
Men’s Fellowship

Meet on Mondays at 7.30pm between October and March. A short period of devotion is followed by a guest speaker with many varied subjects covered.
Bible Study

The Bible Study Group meets on Tuesday mornings to discuss the Bible, faith and discipleship.
Ladies Friendship Group

Meets on Tuesdays at 7.45 pm, one week is a formal evening with a variety of speakers and the next is an informal meeting with games, quizzes and plenty of food.

Scouts 

14th Crossgates Methodist Scouts (age 101/2 - 14 years) meet on Tuesdays, 7.45 – 9.30.

Rainbows

2nd Crossgates Methodist Rainbows (age 5 – 7 years) meet on Wednesdays from 6.15  - 7.30.

Wednesday at Eight

A group of men and women meeting for a varied and enjoyable programme consisting of music, speakers from both inside and outside the church, slide shows, quizzes and devotional themes.

Devotional Class

The group meets on Thursday mornings at 10.30, for fellowship and prayer. A speaker each week brings a wide variety of devotional themes.

Toddlers’ Praise

Meet on alternate Thursday afternoons at 2 pm in Church to enjoy singing and hearing a story, doing a variety of activities and chatting over a drink.
Beavers

14th Crossgates Methodist Beavers (age 6 - 8 years) meet on Thursdays, 5.00 – 6.15.

Cubs

14th Crossgates Methodist Cubs
(age 8 – 101/2 years) meet on Thursdays, 6.30 – 8.00.
Coffee Morning

Friday and Saturday from 10 to 11:30.  Pop in for tea or coffee and biscuits if you’re shopping in Cross Gates.
Rambling Club

Generally walks are every two weeks on Saturdays. Distances walked are between 6 and 11 miles.
